biography
Baritone Ayron Hyatt has been actively involved in music education for ten years. Born and raised in central Iowa, he completed his masters in voice performance with an emphasis in opera studies at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he studied with Timothy Noble. Before studying at IU, he attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, where he received a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Music Education and studied with Dr. Donald Simonson.
Between work on his two degrees, Ayron was the head of Choral Activities at Anamosa High School in Anamosa, IA, where he led two concert choirs, a show choir, various small groups, directed their musical, and taught individual lessons and independent Music Theory courses.
Ayron has been a Young Artist with Cedar Rapids Opera Theater, playing the role of Butch in Frankenboy. Ayron has also performed the roles of Betto di Signa in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Count Paris in Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette, and John Brooke in Adamo’s Little Women, all with IU Opera Theater. He had the opportunity to create the role of Almeron Dickinson in Tim Noble’s workshop for his new musical, Alamo. Other previous roles include Count Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro, a cast member of the musical revue Side by Side by Sondheim, and Bad Bart in Ruddigore.
Ayron has extensive concert experience, having been featured as a soloist in Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Creation, Mozart’s Requiem, Bach’s St. John Passion, and Orff’s Carmina Burana. He has been a recipient of an Encouragement Award at the Metropolitan National Council Auditions.
Ayron has participated in voice and acting masterclasses with Nico and Carol Castel, Ward Holmquist, Richard Boldrey, Simon Estes, Nic Muni, and James Marvel, and has performed in Carol Vaness’ Opera Workshop at IU.
Ayron has also been an active church musician throughout his career, having been a section leader or soloist for 10+ years. He has also actively participated in several KC Metro area ensembles, including the Metropolitan Chorale of Kansas City, where he has been a section leader and guest conductor for four years. He has professional studio recording experience with Aireborn studios in Indianapolis, IN, where he regularly joined a group of talented musicians to record new choral music for publishers around the world.
Ayron’s students have consistently received ‘I’ ratings at both District and State competitions and are regularly selected for Missouri All-District Choir. His students have gone on to receive scholarships and successfully pursue music at the college level and beyond. His students have also regularly participated in the George Caleb Bingham Academy of the Arts. Ayron is a member of the National Association of Singers of Teaching as well as the Music Teachers National Association.
Ayron lives in Independence, MO with his wife of seven years, Kelly, who is a voice teacher and visual artist.
